The Story Behind Dr SK Skincare

Dr SK Skincare began not in a lab — but during one of the most difficult times in modern history: the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Segar and Dr. K, a husband-and-wife team of medical doctors with a special interest in dermatology, were seeing something alarming in their clinic. As the pandemic changed our daily lives, it also took a toll on our skin.

We were all told to wash our hands constantly. To sanitise. To shower after every trip outside. We stayed indoors, using air conditioning 24/7. Many spent more time cooking, gardening, and managing home life — exposing their skin to more allergens and irritants than ever before.

And slowly, the same story began to repeat:

❌ Itchiness got worse.

❌ Allergies and sensitivity flared up.

We saw this skin barrier breakdown in so many of our patients — and we knew we had to do something.

💡 The Beginning: One Moisturiser to Repair It All

We started by formulating a body moisturiser that could truly repair and restore the skin barrier — specifically tailored for Malaysia’s hot, humid weather and local skin needs.

The results in our clinic were clear and heartening.

✅ Itch was significantly reduced.

✅ Dry, flaky skin began to heal.

✅ Patients could feel the difference — and so could we.

🧴 From Body to Hair & Face — A Full Barrier-Care System

Encouraged by the results, we went on to create a gentle body wash and scalp-soothing hair shampoo to complete the routine — each one designed to calm sensitive skin, not strip it.

But our patients wanted more. Many had reactive facial skin from years of using harsh products. So we developed our face care series — cleansers, moisturisers, mists, sun protection — to not only treat sensitive skin but to protect and strengthen the barrier long term.

After 6+ years of using these formulas safely in our clinic — and seeing real transformation in real people — we knew it was time to share them beyond our doors.

That’s why we launched Dr SK Skincare online — to help more people who are silently suffering with itchy, dry, and sensitive skin.

We created these products with medical knowledge, heartfelt care, and a deep understanding of what sensitive skin truly needs. Because healing skin is more than just beauty — it’s comfort, confidence, and quality of life.
